Diversity within leadership teams and governing bodies opens the conversation to offer a range of perspectives and foster innovative solutions, but ultimately, it can support and promote consumer-centred care that better respects the unique backgrounds and circumstances of everyone in our care.
When leaders draw from a diverse range of experiences, they are better able to understand consumer concerns and preferences, address sensitivities, and identify potential problems in their service. This ensures more meaningful integration of the consumer perspective into the ideation and decision-making processes for governing bodies and executives.
Want to better understand how you, your governing body and executives can foster diverse leadership and diversity of thought? On Wednesday 11 October 2023, 12pm (AEDT), tune in to the Diversity of thought: A shared approach to leadership in aged care webinar to listen to panel members Logan Nirmalananda, Faye Spiteri, and Kok Kong Chan discuss:
- Strategies to partner with both consumers and staff in Aged Care leadership, including how to get the most out of these perspectives, and identifying challenges that might be encountered
- The benefit of ensuring diversity in leadership positions (i.e. the importance of having people from diverse backgrounds in executive leadership and governance positions)
